Roth And Roll

July 5, 1999 - The 1999 David Lee Roth tour continues to roll through the USA. Reviews are coming in thick and fast - all can be found on our DLR Tour Page. The set lists are very Van Halen oriented, with the most recent shows only featuring two DLR solo tunes - Yankee Rose and Tobacco Road, the latter being a cover. (Right: July 4 set list.)

From all reports, Dave's new band have been extremely well received. However, our reviewers are divided over the issue of guitarist Bart Walsh playing Eruption and Spanish Fly. Many feel that it's inappropriate for Bart to be playing Edward Van Halen's signature guitar solo. Others say if it's OK for Gary Cherone to sing Jump, then it's cool for Bart to play Eruption.

There have also been many comments about Dave's rap during Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love. During the "I've been to the edge" section, Dave has taken shots at Sammy Hagar, Gary Cherone and Edward Van Halen.

Can you imagine living life as a Van Halen/Sammy Hagar/David Lee Roth fan, without controversy? Naaa, it would be too boring!

Van Halen Radio!

July 7, 1999 - Have you ever had the following thoughts:

  • "The radio sucks! They never play songs I like."
  • "I wish my local station played more Van Halen."
  • "Wouldn't it be cool if there was a station that played only Van Halen songs!"
Download WinAmp

If you've had these thoughts, you're not alone. We've been doing some testing over the past few months, and have decided to make our all Van Halen radio station public. At last, there is a radio station, available worldwide via the Internet, that only plays Van Halen, David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar!

VHND Radio is now broadcasting live over the Internet!

To tune in to the broadcast, click on the link below:

VHND Radio is powered by Shoutcast - Click here to listen!

If the link doesn't work, run WinAmp, press CTRL-L and type:

VHND Radio will bring you all the songs you love, plus a few surprises. We have a huge playlist, including all the Van Halen albums, plus rare live tracks and demos.

The station will run 24/7 until Sunday afternoon (Jul 11, 1999). After that it will operate between 11PM - 3PM PST from Sunday to Thursday, then 24 hours during Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately I can't run the station 24/7 just yet, but this may be a possibility in the future, depending on how successful it is. Apologies also for the weird hours - the VHND is run from Australia so the time difference causes problems with things like this.

Feedback is welcome!
