Impulse Music May 14, 1997 - Sammy Hagar will be a guest on Howard Stern's radio show on May 21. He will also be performing Little White Lie on The Late Show With David Letterman on May 23. LA Times 5/17/97 May 19, 1997 - According to the Slawterhouse web site, the original David Lee Roth band is reforming. They are quoting "extremely reliable" sources who say that the Roth / Vai / Sheehan / Bissonette combination has already been turned down for the opening spot on the Aerosmith tour. While this is great news for fans of Dave, it looks to be a false rumour. According to sources within the Vai camp and Billy Sheehan, there is no truth to the rumour. To quote Billy Sheehan: "No truth to that rumour - I wouldn't do it without Gregg Bissonette anyway!" Special thanks to Roger and Brad from the VHML for tracking down the info! Hagar on Comedy CentralMay 20, 1997 - Sammy Hagar will be appearing on Comedy Central's The Daily Show on Wednesday May 21 at 11PM. It should be interesting, considering they once referred to Sammy as "The blonde woman who ruined Van Halen". If you miss the show it also screens the following day at 8AM and 1PM. Hagar on the Rogue Market, MTV News and Letterman!May 23, 1997 - Sammy Hagar has been added to the list of stars that are trading on the Rogue Market. EVH appears on Jeff Porcaro Tribute AlbumMay 26, 1997 - Eddie Van Halen is one of the many big-name musicians to appear on the new Tribute To Jeff Porcaro album being sold as a Japanese import by Audiophile Imports. Eddie is featured on two of the tracks, It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry and If Six Was Nine. Other musicians who pay tribute to the late Toto drummer include bandmates Steve Lukather, David Paich and brothers Mike and Steve Porcaro. Hagar Album Debuts On Billboard ChartMay 29, 1997 - Sammy Hagar's Marching To Mars album debuted at Number 18 on the Billboard US Album Chart released today. Yankee Best UpdateMay 29, 1997 - Dave's upcoming greatest hits album Yankee Best will include a new track titled Don't Piss Me Off. At this stage the album will only be released in Europe and Japan, but there is a possibility that the album will be released worldwide! The Latest From 5150
May 2, 1997 - I have an update from our source within the 5150 studios! Van Halen have 10 "basics" done for the new album, and are working on more right now. The album will probably be mixed in June. Once the mixing is done, Edward Van Halen will have hip replacement surgery. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches!

Hagar Single Released To Radio
May 2, 1997 - Little White Lie, Sammy Hagar's first solo single since his split with Van Halen, was released to radio on April 23. It is getting regular airplay across the USA and Canada. I've been notified that the single still hasn't been officially released yet, but haven't been able to confirm this with his record company yet. Hagar Rolling Stone Interview
May 15, 1997 - Check out the Rolling Stone web site for the latest interview with former Van Halen lead singer, Sammy Hagar. In the interview, Hagar reveals for the first time that he attended a funeral with his former band-mates in late August.
David Lee Roth Band Rumours May 19, 1997 - I reported earlier today in the Snippets section that the rumours about the original David Lee Roth band reforming seemed to be false. Van Halen Album Updates May 24, 1997 - Warner Bros Records are said to be "blown away" with the new Van Halen tracks currently being recorded at 5150. At the moment the band are still recording and rehearsing new songs. Final mixing is set for June. One of the new songs may have the title How Many Say I. May 29, 1997 - More information from 5150! The band are finishing the last track this week and mixing will begin on Monday June 2. Tentative song titles include How Many Say I, One I Want (formerly Candyman), 365 (may be titled Year To The Day), Without You and Fire In The Hole.
Dave Unreleased! May 30, 1997 - Here it is, as promised yesterday on the Snippets section, the unreleased David Lee Roth track from Howard Stern's hit movie Private Parts! The full song is available in RealAudio format in both 28K and ISDN quality. |
