Van Halen Update
January 24, 2001 -
Dweezil Zappa must have a sore throat after talking about Van Halen
so much this past weekend! Last Friday he called in to KSHE-95
in St. Louis to talk about the Van Halen reunion. He mentioned that
six songs on the new album were done, (news that he repeated at NAMM
the next day), but also added that the band is currently in counseling
to keep the amicable juices flowing.
Brad Starks, the webmaster of the
Official Van Halen Web Site, posted
a news update on the site's message board last night. Titled "No News
Is STILL Good News", the message read as follows:
A lot of folks have been asking for updates on the band, future album,
tour etc. As of right now, No News is STILL Good News. Here's the band's
current stance:
When you see something on the Official site, you can be assured it will happen.
Until that time, don't bet the farm on it, because things can and do change
on a dime. The rest is all rumors, speculation and creative imaginations.
They don't want to put any news up on the site until it's gonna happen for sure.
That way no one is disappointed, lead on, or misinformed.
I know it's hard, but you've just gotta hang in there. Before you know it, we'll all be rockin'.
Obviously the policy hasn't changed, but it seems that the band is
finally realizing that we are all eager to hear some news. At least they have
attempted to address the situation (through Brad), without giving anything away.
Finally for today, a higher quality version of the Eddie Van Halen video
shown at NAMM can now be viewed from the Official Van Halen Web Site.
Look for it in the news section.
Thanks to Eric Ham and Brad Starks.

Dec 31, 2000 - 2000: The Year In Review
2000 has come and gone, and I don't have to tell you that it was probably
the most frustrating year ever in the life of Van Halen fans. "No news is
good news" got old real fast.
