Happy Birthday Alex Van Halen!

On this day in 1953, Alexander Arthur van Halen was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Many publications and
web sites are still reporting his birth date as 1955, but this is incorrect.
The photo (right) of a young Alex Van Halen and his father, Jan, was taken on the boat that carried the
Van Halen family to the USA. It was reportedly taken around 1962. Jan (d. 1988) was an accomplished
musician, and can be heard playing clarinet on the track Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now)
[Diver Down].

2000 has come and gone, and I don't have to tell you that it was probably
the most frustrating year ever in the life of Van Halen fans. "No news is
good news" got old real fast.
