Happy Birthday Edward Van Halen!

On this day in 1955, Edward Lodewijk van Halen was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Many publications
and web sites are still reporting his birth date as 1957, but this is incorrect.
The photo (right) of a young Edward Van Halen and his mother, Eugenia, was taken on the
boat that carried the Van Halen family to the USA. It was reportedly taken around 1962.
Happy 47th birthday, Edward!
In other news, the official Van Halen site is reporting that the Pleasure
Dome, the message board hosted at the site, will return "a little later down the
road, bigger and better than ever".
I hate to be ragging on the band yet again, but this needs to be said.
You have to wonder what's going on when Van Halen splitting with Warner
Bros. after almost 25 years isn't considered newsworthy, but the status
of the band's currently non-existant message board is...
A simple message on the news section of the site saying "Van Halen are
no longer with Warner Bros. Records" wouldn't have hurt. Then again, from
our experiences as fans in the last two years since Gary Cherone quit,
it's plainly obvious that the band don't want their fans knowing a damn thing
about what they're doing unless they have a new album to sell.
Pleasure Dome announcements should be kept on the actual message board, but I guess
when there's so little news, at least it's something to print.
