New Video From David Lee Roth
February 13, 2002 -
davidleeroth.com was updated
yesterday. Gone is the endless vertical slideshow of photos that are assumed
to be part of his forthcoming DVD. In its place is a brand new music video!
If you're on a dialup connection, load up Dave's site and turn up the sound.
Now you can go grab a bite or maybe brew some beer because that's how long it's
going to take to download. The sound will start when it's ready.
If you're on broadband it will still be slow, maybe five minutes or so,
depending on how busy Roth's server is.
The music is a radical departure from everything Roth has done in the
past. If you're expecting music similar to DLR Band or
Eat 'Em And Smile, this is the complete opposite! If you liked
Look At All The People Here Tonight (I didn't), then you will probably
like this (I don't).
If you liked Crablouse by Lords of Acid, you'll love this because
it's a pretty faithful cover, but with new lyrics. Crablouse - 30 second sample.
If Dave has now decided that techno/acid is the way to go, I feel he's going to
disappoint a lot of his die-hard fans. We all like different types of music,
but I think it's safe to say that "hard rock" in the style of the first six
Van Halen albums is what most Roth fans were expecting from the Diamond One,
not techno.
How many of you had even heard of Lords of Acid before reading
this?

So far the scathing predictions of the "Tiki God" have all come true. According
to this anonymous person, the title of Dave's new song is Flex.
He/She has also predicted that Dave has done a techno version of
the Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows and a cover of Gerry Rafferty's
Baker Street.
