Van Halen Now Without A Tour Manager
February 25, 2002 -
Scotty Ross, Van Halen's longtime Tour Manager, was let go by the band
last Thursday (Feb 21, 2002).
Ross had been with the band since around 1990, and was previously the
Tour Manager for Poison.
This is yet another sad day for Van Halen fans. I got to meet Scotty during
the band's 1998 tour of Australia and you could not meet a nicer bloke.
He went out of his way to cater for all the Australian fans who had been
starved of a tour for so many years. Scotty, I wish you all the best
with your future endeavours. Hopefully you get a chance to bring the
Taylor Made's to Australia again sometime.
If it wasn't already obvious that Van Halen have no plans to put out an
album or tour this year, it should be now.
- Mike is recording with Sammy Hagar's new "HSAC" project.
- "HSAC" (or CASH backwards) will most likely tour later in the year.
- Van Halen have been without a singer since November 1999.
- Van Halen have no record label.
- Van Halen have no tour manager.
- Van Halen have no manager.
Mike's bass tech, Kevin Dugan, is also
looking for work (scroll down
to Feb 5, 2002). This entry was posted before it was officially announced
that Mike was joining Sammy's project, so there's a chance that Kevin
will work with Mike on this tour.
Call me negative, but it's no longer fun being a Van Halen fan any more.
What do we have to look forward to?
