So what has Sammy Hagar been up to lately? Let the Van Halen News Desk bring you up to date...
On May 7th Sammy sold 80% of the interest in Cabo Wabo Tequila for $80 million dollars to
Skyy Spirits LLC which is a subsidiary of Italy-based Gruppo Campari. Sammy retains the
other 20% and remains committed to being involved in both the quality and marketing of
Cabo Wabo Tequila going forward. You can read the press release on Sammy's
official site here
and see him talk about the sale in a quicktime video here.
Keeping with the tequila theme, the Cabo Wabo bottles are changing again. To get a look
at the new bottles (and boxes) see this image from cabowao.com
On June 17th, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch published a recent interview with Sammy where
he talks about the Hall of Fame, Van Halen, the up-coming acoustic show and his new DVD.
You can read the full interview here.
On Father's Day, Sammy and the Wabo's played the May Tahoe Wabo make up show at Harvey's.
Unfortunately Sammy was still a little sick and was trying to take it easy on his voice.
This meant that several songs in the set list either got cut, or were replaced.
It was all good though!
On June 19th the new Sammy Hagar and the Wabos: Livin' It Up! In St. Louis DVD was released,
and you can get it at the Van Halen Store
(as always). In addition, Sammy showed up as a special guest at the St. Louis Cardinals
home game at Busch Stadium and conducted an interview prior to throwing out the first
pitch. It is split into two parts, and you can check it out on YouTube here:

On the evening of June 20th Sammy and the Wabo's performed live acousticly at the DVD
release of Livin' It Up - Live in St. Louis at the Pageant Theatre. You can
hear the show courtesy of Sammy's official site. (Windows Media Player required)
The big news was the announcement of Sammy's 60th Birthday Party touring plans. He is planning
60 stops starting after his annual Birthday Bash in Cabo and stretching until the big finale
in St. Louis at Busch Stadium in July 2008. You can read the full press release here. Keep your eye on the Sammy 2007/08 tour page for the latest details. (There is a link at the bottom of every page.) The first two shows
have already been announced and are going on sale soon!
